Hardy Perfect Spitfire 2 7/8 (Limited edition)

Hardy Perfect Spitfire 2 7/8

The Perfect Spitfire 2 and 7/8 belongs to the House of Hardy production of the early years of the new millennium. That period was for Hardy a sort of “swan song”, before the movement of production in the far east. Many series of limited edition reels were made, of inimitable quality and design, now jealously kept in the most exclusive collections. I refer to Perfect All Brass, St. George Jr., Bouglé, etc.

When these pieces pass on the market in perfect and complete conditions, the prices immediately jump between 500 and 1000 euros.

Made in a limited edition of 250 copies, well-kept in every detail, it is inspired by the homonymous model dating back to the first decades of the 20th century.

Never published in the catalogs by Hardy, inside the body is engraved with the initials CSN 053. This corresponds to Charles Norris, then head of the Hardy reel construction department, while the number 053 indicates the production number on a total of 250 pieces. It has an interior made of marine brass and stainless steel, while the thread guide is made with a beautiful circular agate which, unlike the other specimens where it is gray, on this reel is of a gray tending to very special green / blue.

Complete the object a wonderful leather case and its beige and burgundy cardboard box, showing the serial number.

Made for right hands, it holds up a wf4 tail.
